Caradoc, the new King of the Catuvellauni has harboured a hatred of Windubro and the kingdom it has become, for ten years. Now, while most of the peoples of Britain are expecting the Romans to invade, he gathers an army of fifty thousand warriors and marches north to the Trent. His hatred of the nation that was his father’s shield against Caradoc is stronger than his fear of an invasion. The attacks on Windubro are imminent when news reaches him that the legions have landed at last in his own Kingdom, Caradoc turns about and hastens south again to meet defeat and years of guerilla resistance.

Over the next few years, Rome expands its territory in the south, refugee tribes come north and provide recruits for Camelod, Commerce continues to grow - at an increasing rate now that almost half the country is a Roman province;  merchants and the Emperor make lucrative trading deals for the unique products of Camelod’s factories. A loose arrangement between the two powers maintains a border along a line south of the Trent, for some years. However, the advent of a new governor, changes matters . He has nothing but contempt for non-Roman armies and people and, on his own initiative, launches an attack on Camelod with two legions, falling headlong into a massive ambush.

The Roman State repudiates him, and with the emperor being offered an increased monopoly in return for a formal diplomatic agreement, the Treaty of Trent is created, commerce between Rome and the British Kingdom continues to grow.
